Sphinn: News Story Submission Guidelines
- News submissions must be related to
search, social media, search marketing and internet marketing per our
categories or subcategories.
- The Water Cooler area allows for some off-topic conversations of a light tone, but sorry, no politics because of moderation difficulties.
- Yes, you can submit your own stories. In fact, we'd rather you directly
submit your own stories you think are of interest to the community than have
someone do it for you.
- Yes, you can submit your own blog post about a news story you read.
However, we'd prefer you only do this if you've added something unique to
the general news topic, such as an extended opinion or further
clarification.
- If in doubt, consider submitting the original news story, then make a comment in the story afterward and link to your own blog post as part of your description.
- If there's already a news story covering a particular subject,
consider adding a link to your own story in the comments from that other
story, rather than doing a fresh Sphinn submission. See the Sphinn
Discussion & Comment Guidelines for more advice on this.
- Give your topic submission a good title and description that helps
others at Sphinn know what it is about. We prefer that titles be done in
Title Case -- Upper Case The First Letter Of Each Word, Even The Small Ones
Like And But & Or.
- Please remove the name of the blog from the title. Removing the name of the blog will make for a cleaner and easier to read title. This may be auto added when you submit the URL, so please be sure to remove it so that our moderators won't have to.
- Please choose the most appropriate subcategory from the drop-down box on the submission form. Subcategories are those indented under a top-level category (such as Google SEO indented under Google). If you submit to a top-level category, an editor is just going to move it to the right subcategory. Save us time (please!). Pick the right subcategory. If you're uncertain of a subcategory, use the "other" option within any category.
- Please don't submit more than two stories in a row, in order to help preserve variety in the What's New area.
- Please don't submit stories more than a few days old unless you feel they are of exceptional quality that have gone somehow unnoticed by the greater online community.
- Please submit only content in English. Sorry we cannot support more language, but we don't have the staff to review non-English submissions at this time.
- New to Sphinn? For the first week after you register, you will be limited to submitting only 1 article every 24 hours until you get used to the community and how it operates.
