Seattle SEO John Andrews challenges Sphinn to top 600

Seattle SEO John Andrews challenges Sphinn members to prove their mettle as marketers, by pushing Sphinn over 600 for the first time. If you’re new to Sphinn, welcome! and why not throw your first Sphinn onto this historical post?

Sites like Digg show hundreds and sometimes thousands of votes because their members participate and exercise their voting rights. Sphinn is young, but more than a year old already and yet most posts have 10, 20, or 30 Sphinns. Why not more?

When this post first went "hot", it challenged Sphinn’s membership to "prove themselves" as marketers. The most number of Sphinns for any post at that time was less than 70. Since the users pushed this to 100, then 200, and now over 400, Sphinn has grown site wide. Many posts see almost a hundred Sphinns.

More Sphinns reflects more participation, and by increasing participation we not only prove ourselves as marketers but help keep Sphinn alive as a viable community.

Let’s go to 600 but continue to pace of voting to Sphinn up what deserves to be Sphunn, site wide!

How to SEO Your Site in Less Than 60 Minutes

I often get asked to review a web site and give quick feedback on the site’s SEO. The issue: Is the site doing well, or in desperate need of SEO help? To answer those questions, I’ve developed a speedy system to go through a site and take a quick SEO snapshot. I’m going to give that system away here. On a smaller site, this should take about 20 minutes. Even on the biggest sites, it’s never taken me more than an hour.

Why the SEOmoz SEO Quiz Is Completely Wrong

But why is this quiz so wrong? Too many of the questions go beyond the science and into the art of SEO, where things are fluid and changing and open to interpretation. The quiz is more accurately a test of how much of your personal SEO philosophy matches that of SEOmoz. Like a match.com compatibility test. You and SEOmoz, sitting in a tree. Romantically optimizing title tags.
