Earlier this week I was lucky enough to be the first to get my mittens on an article by Marty Weintraub (http://sphinn.com/story/32606). Brilliant I thought. It's not often I get the opportunity to contribute a quality piece... aside from my own :) (I'm located in Australia and often asleep when most new stories are posted). The piece itself was of typical good quality and seemed to be just the type to go hot in Sphinn. So I was disappointed to see it attract just 8 votes. This got me thinking as to the reason for lack of success...Admittedly the title of the article could have been a little more interesting - 'SEM Vendor Checklist' probably isn't the most exciting title ever. I also could have put Marty's name into the summary so as to alert the Sphinn community that this was a piece by one of its prominent members. But despite this I can't help but think that if exactly the same submission was made by a recognized face, it would have gone hot. So, I'm asking the Sphinn community - how much does the avatar next to an article affect your propensity to read and vote on an article? As a final note, Marty - I do apologize if my anonymity contributed to a lack of visibility for piece.

14 Vote(s)
