Over the last few months, we've been noticing what appears to be an "overactive Google filter", that we believe filters out completely legitimate results (I'd like to hear from Matt though ... it is possible that its something else). Its rare, but still happens. Here's the situation:Very large fortune 1000 firms, with multiple brands competing for the same keywords (eg. Kitchenaid.ca and Whirlpoolappliances.ca). Same IP, same "Who Is" data, different domains, sites, and products.Keyword is 'home appliances' in Google.ca ... these are amongst the biggest names in home appliances, targeting completely different niches, and should rank at least top 20 :)For some keywords (not all), both sites are not permitted to rank (for some others they are ... eg. refrigerators), likely due to perceived 'gaming'. Why do I think its an overactive filter? 1. Once I've searched and not found the second site, 2. I goto advanced search, and ask to show 100 results per page, and search again3. scroll to bottom of SERPs page, and hit the link "repeat the search with the omitted results included"4. now see the second site, precisely where it should be in the SERPs.so ... I can conclude its a filter!Anyone else seeing this?

12 Vote(s)
