Today I had a social network take my account for their further benefits. They claim that it was due to their system not recognizing that it was a restricted username. Personally my guess is that they forgot to reserve the username. However, I've owned and built the profile for four months now and they've taken it away. This is my official boycott on http://www.ClaimID.com until they do the right thing. Help support this strike if you can; I've promoted this site on blogs, forums, to my clients and friends and now I'm getting screwed.- 10 minutes of SEO, SEM & Internet Marketing

8 Vote(s)

Eric Enge does a very nice review of Matt Cutts most recent post, "Subdomains and subdirectories". (http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/subdomains-and-subdirectories/)I however still have a question that I don't feel is being addressed by Matt, Eric or anyone else writing about the topic of choosing sub domains or sub directories.Eric writes, "I do think that there is a slightly greater risk that a subdomain will be treated as a separate site by Google. While this risk is fairly low, I don't think that there is zero risk of this."My question is this...What if I WANT Google to treat sub domains as if they were owned and operated by separate users? I'm set to launch a new niche site that is largely geared around user contribution. While at the beginning it may be possible to police the network, eventually that won't be possible.I don't want my hard work and invested money into this project to be killed just because some yahoo or other unknowing baboon does something to their section of the network which creates a penalty for everyone. One great example of a mega site that will have problems with this is Wordpress.com. They create hosted blogs as an option for their users using sub domains. Wordpress.com is a well known established and trusted site so surely sub domains won't be a problem for them according to Eric. However what about Joe Smoe or John Jones (me) who is just launching?

13 Vote(s)

So far I've read two really great articles through various sources that I wanted to Sphinn. The first was on "Google Dumps The Supplemental Results Label" which Danny Sullivan wrote. That Sphinn went HOT right away and just left the front page yesterday (http://sphinn.com/story/2229).Today I read "Cheat Sheet For Google Cheat Sheets" by Barry Shwartz and felt it was a great resource to Sphinn as well. (http://sphinn.com/story/2229)So I am wondering why I happened to be the first to Sphinn these articles when these two well known guru's in their own right should have that credit. I am also wondering if I am getting deadly arrows pointed at me as we speak.Thoughts from everyone else on Sphinning first?

28 Vote(s)

Most of us have a story or two to tell about nightmare clients. Often we have learned our lessons or at least some of them from these wonderful people we have dealt with in our past.Tonight I polled a few people in the industry I know and came up with seven statements that each of them have or would like to say to troublesome clients at one point in time or another.1.Sorry, but we must have payment prior to the work being started and completed.2.The standard rates are going up.3.I'll have to set up a call allowance for my services.4.That isn't part of our agreement.5.Your site is down because you didn't make the payment buddy.6.Google mustn't like your sitea4 sorry.7.You want to pay how much? (Followed by laughter)What are some of the things you wish you could say to some of the most troublesome clients you've ever dealt with before you learned that the money isn't worth the hassle?

4 Vote(s)
