<description><![CDATA[I've been around the block of SEO/SEM but every day I learn new tricks. And lately I notice I learn from people half my age (I'm forty something now). I'm used to that, because I was a late bloomer (too many years of grad school) and a web technologist (my peers are 30) but it does pose a contradiction: if experience is so important, why are the young un's so interesting?For many years tech was a &quot;been there / done that&quot; field. The more you had done before, the better you were today. With web design, it's the opposite. Fresh, new, and who else but the youngsters can spend 500 hours getting a shiny floor logo to work across browsers? But SEO/SEM is not design. So as SEO/SEM grows at this crazy rate, and we see more &quot;new&quot; people than ever before, is it good for the SEO/SEM industry? Are all of these &quot;search marketers&quot; with less than 2 years experience good for the market? Has SEM gotten more like design than technology, finally, so communication skillz outrank tech skills? Sphinn is the forum to ask this question... you guys are fresh (young) and active (enthusiastic) and the community is peppered with experienced old timers. What's the feeling? Good or bad? <description><![CDATA[Seattle SEO John Andrews challenges Sphinn members to prove their mettle as marketers, by pushing Sphinn over 400 for the first time. Sites like Digg show hundreds and sometimes thousands of votes because their members participate and exercise their voting rights. Sphinn is young, but more than a year old already and yet most posts have 10, 20, or 30 Sphinns. Why not more? When this post first went &quot;hot&quot;, it challenged Sphinn's membership to &quot;prove themselves&quot; as marketers. The most number of Sphinns for any post at that time was less than 70. Since the users pushed this to 100, then 200, and now almost to 400, Sphinn has grown site wide. Many posts see almost a hundred Sphinns. More Sphinns reflects more participation, and by increasing participation we not only prove ourselves as marketers but help keep Sphinn alive as a viable community.
