Matt,This can't be right."There will be no banner ads on the Google homepage or web search results pages. There will not be crazy, flashy, graphical doodads flying and popping up all over the Google site.
I was thinking the other day about people who domain squat. No two ways about it, there are speculators who sit on domains that have no current business value and those who do it to harm brands, individuals, extort, etc. With all of the Web 2.0 sites out there, it is easier then ever to start connecting with your site visitors but does the ease of use also mean that you have a whole new round of headaches trying to police fake accounts from people who might pose as your, your company, etc.??

2 Vote(s)

Barry Schwartz provides a highlight to Eric Goldman's comments on a case where one Adwords advertiser sued another over a trademarked term and won. How long does it take to get an Adwords trademark complaint closed or resolved? From the post:"What is incredibly interesting to me, outside of the legal ramifications of this case, is the business decision that went into this lawsuit. Goldman estimates that Storus could have spent $1,374 to "divert" the clicks to their own site but instead spent a lot more money going to court to sue Aroa over this claim. In fact, Goldman estimates that the keywords probably cost 1% of what the case cost.It is also important to note that the practice of using a competitor's trademark in ad copy is already prohibited by most US based search ad companies, including Google."My own comment... If it takes Google 2+ months to get a trademark complaint resolved, perhaps the lawsuit was less expensive overall. Your take?

5 Vote(s)
