Those of you who have burned RSS feeds directly through AdSense rather than through feedburner may have noticed a few things of interest:1. Feedproxy urls are showing up in Google searchs2. There seems to be no restriction on urls. For example, I just did http://feedproxy.google.com/tools for one of my sites. Not sure how much weight Google might give these, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to grab a few for your own feeds for branding et al.Just click on AdSense for Feeds to get started!

1 Vote(s)

I am always wary of tools that try to combine metrics with social media, like Twitter Grader and Twitter Follower Friend Ratio. The main reason for this is the risk that people who don't understand the nature of social media (engagement, conversation and a way to make being genuine a real part of business and personal online interaction) will use the metrics they attain to spam or abuse those in the social media space.

3 Vote(s)

There have been several write-ups recently - this one is excellent. No doubt a lot of photographers and graphics designers will be using this to find misappropriated photos.
My wife was wondering why 60% of her web site traffic was showing as "direct entry" - she couldn't imagine all of these visitors were typing in her web site URL from scratch. At the same time, I was working with a client that was depending on the a4referera4 value for some calculations. And something wasn't adding up to them. I couldn't really find a good list of bad reasons for using referers, but I did find a whole lot of partial lists.

1 Vote(s)

With Yahoo moving to support Semantic Web markup in the new Yahoo! Search open platform, can Google be far behind? True impact is perhaps the last nail in the coffin of web sites with badly-formatted HTML. Its already difficult to convince non-technical site owners that visual elements need to have the correct tag (h1 rather than bolded spans or gasp! font tags) and that meta descriptions are important even though they are invisible.A lot of web sites will need xhtml/css recoding - and anyone building websites (or having them built) should get smart on microformats, rdf, etc. and make them part of any site design/redesign now.

4 Vote(s)
