Haha yes domain names are incredibly powerful, but do you know all of the reasons why and what you can do with them? You may be an experienced programmer, but for some people the info is actually pretty useful (especially if they’re looking to buy up a new domain). Mind you, this search stuff is Greek to 99.9% of the human population.The world would be a very scary place if it was full of only programmers... anyone else agree?
I’ve got a few from the "old days". I was once offered about 3/4 of a mil for a network of sites in the mortgage field.... Ah the days when even golden mortgage domains paid... Here’s to hoping that boat comes back around.
I agree. We have a website, washington-real-estate-news.com and generally is #1 or #2 in our geo area for ’washington real estate news’ beating out sites like Washington Post, Seattle Times, Inman, etc. There is nothing special about the site except the url. Doesn’t rank for other search terms.
this is a really great point but in no way needs the amount of writing and common sense that this post drives home.
Interesting, but turns out their perceived and real value is even less than i would have suspected, once you go beyond .com extensions.
I had several of the highest value exact match .us names pre ordered before that country code ever began selling and their wholesale is not near that of what you see for their Euro country code counterparts.
I also have a couple of exact match, one word .bz and those are worth even less.
