Last week the Semmys were awarded. In no less than 18 categories winners were picked who wrote this year’s best posts in search engine marketing. But only two of the 18 winners were Europeans?

I don’t have stats but I know that lots of european folks were nominated. Distilled alone had 3 or 4 nominations across multiple categories.

I guess the question also needs to be asked - how many Europeans took active part in the voting?

Maybe they’re too busy making money doing real SEO ;o)

Thanks Guys all great comments and well done to Distilled on all the nominations there were some great European posts! @ Rishil - there were also some great judges that reviewed the posts that can be seen on the Semmys website http://www.semmys.org/category/offseason/, some of the best out there.

Hi all, thanks for the Sphinns and the comments! Yes, there were some European nominees Tom, quite some good ones actually. Though there were over a hundred nominees in total :).Point is I think Europeans could be visible more than now is the case. In general Europeans seem to be less prominent. Not all of them, but in general. I think they should step forward more.I think Rishil makes a good point. Part of the voting was public. How many Europeans actually voted? So not the judges, but the public.Jon, thanks for the sphinning :)

Nominated but didn’t even vote for myself. Think I’ll agree with Rob here. :)

Do I sense the Search Cowboys are going to have a European "Semmy-like" awards? :D<div></div><div></div><div>Maybe call it the ’wild west SEO showdown’ or something. :) Makes good for link bait, builds on the niche of your domain (uk SEO’s...).</div><div></div><div></div><div>Just a thought. :)</div>

Only 2 of 18 awards? Geesh.. and you have thousands of years more experience than we do here in the states (we only started this country in 1776).You Europeans need to work harder. Maybe take fewer mid-day naps? Watch less soccer?

Congrats Sebastian... you had my vote(s). Oh, and my comment above was sarcastic...even the use of the word "soccer" instead of football/futbol.
