"Now this might sound crazy, but I have been known to run PPC campaigns for keywords that my client is already ranking on the first page on the Organic SERPs."Increased ’on page’ exposure will only gain you or your brand credibility!

I like to do both PPC and SEO. Depending exclusively on SEO is too risky.

PPC is a given for ecommerce in my opinion.  Sometimes a site is just about selling a widget...plain and simple.

I run a couple of SEO and PPC campaigns where even though we have number 1 ranking for the brand name in the organic results, we still go for a top ranking in the sponsored links too.  Our analytics usually suggests a better conversion rate for the PPC clicks too.

Doing one without the other is just limiting yourself to ranking on 1/2 of the SERP - the other half is going to be filled up with competitors’ ads.Additionally you can learn a lot by running SEO and PPC side by side - traffic volumes for keywords you are targetting, content/headline approaches, etc.
