This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. He went unpublished for so long that he had to use a railroad stake to put his rejection letters in the wall.

Stephen King’s "On Writing" is a really excellent read - while the tips don’t look like much on the blog, his examples on how he learned to cut his text are great and well worth seeing if you ever have to write for an audience.

When I was in grad school for writing, everybody used to bag on him for being too simple. He can get pages turning, however. When you are authoring pages, you want that level of readability. Good find.
