If you own a business in the US, you know what a D&B is. Your business credit report. Well, we’re a pretty new company, so we didn’t have one yet.

So this week I got a note from D&B saying to go to www.dnb.com/score and enter the number they’d provided to retrieve our score. I entered the number along with contact information. (Stupid me. I should have known if they needed my phone number that the offer wasn’t legit.)

Anyway, I didn’t get the information promised. I got a screen saying they will call us first thing on Monday.

How does the largest (and only, to my knowledge) business credit reporting service in the US get away with this? Anybody else angry about this tactic?

Chris, It’s nice to see business issues, especially those which keep us SEMs from being scammed, here in the pages of Sphinn. Thanks for bringing the content forward. It sounds like a shitty D&B tactic. I’ve thought their tactics were questionable for years.

I have no respect for D&B.   You may not know it but D & B sells your contact information and then all of sudden your mailbox is filling up with solicitations to buy stuff etc.  I even lie to D & B to make sure they don’t know anything about me and my little company.  They are true Sleezeballs wrapped in sheeps clothing.
