Id say what Hotmail did techincally isnt Viral Marketing. It required little to no effort on Microsofts part, and they were just using their own property to advertise the service. Companies do that every day. Does Microsofts usage qualify as viral because it just reached a lot of people? Or was it actually viral, did people care about it, and did it create a buzz?
