The BBC’s Erik Huggers believes that the broadcaster should be using its top 10 ranking in UK internet traffic to help out other British sites.

Of the UK top-10 most visited sites, only the BBC is UK owned, and Huggers insists that the time has come to ’aggressively’ link out to other British sites.

Great news for UK owned websites or something that will get algorithmically countered quickly by search engines?

"other public service broadcasters and with other public bodies" - doesn’t that just mean government/ local council /university sites etc?

Make an announcement, prepare the public, watch everyone squirm. This should be interesting to watch as it is usually the other way around, someone is adding NoFollow or blocking via some method. So, what’s the best way to announce that you are going to remove NoFollow and let the juice flow? On the BBC of course! Give the public fair warning so everyone knows and then watch what may or may not happen to their presence online. With everyone watching in advance, a proactive approach, it kind of puts pressure on Google to be on their Ps and Qs.The BBC have a lot of power to immediately begin morphing parts the web. Will Google allow them to?
