Great article on image optimisation! Brian, to your opinion, what´s the value of a descriptive text from Googe Image Labeler in cases where there already is a descriptive image alt text?

I don’t know that I’d call Photoshop "lossless" in generating JPEG images -- it allows fine-tuning when creating them, enabling the user to choose what degree of compression will be used. Some color information is thrown away upon compression, typically.Version of Photoshop used will likely dictate whether it’s using a Lossless JPEG algo or not. I’d suspect that many past versions of Photoshop are using lossy JPEG algos. For instance, there are some third-party-provided Photoshop extensions to provide less lossy JPEG compression.Otherwise, the article is very much on-target regarding image search optimization.

Hey Guys thanks for the feedback and great questions!@LawnchairLarryBy allowing Google Google Image Labeler access to your images, Google can associate them with labels to help improve indexing as well as quality.  @SilverThanks for your kind words and you’re correct, Photoshop may not be the best lossless tool on the market but there are lots of great plugins which allow for customization.  Either way, Photoshop seems to play well with Exif which I’ve noticed other lossy apps sometimes strip.  In any case, feel free to use the software of your choice.  Personally I like Photoshop....-Brian
