In addition to KW research and other testing. PPC + SEO = Branding power [PIC].But Id also like to mention that testing landing pages with PPC doesnt mean that the page is effective for an organic visitor, its two different crowds. People who click an add KNOW its paid and those who click an organic listing could just be browsing for information. Two unique personas, dont forget. PPC visitors arentt the same as an Organic vistor. :) So, youll have to do additional testing with your organic listings.
@JoshuaSciarrino - I gotta disagree about the ppl knowing they are clicking a paid listing or even knowing what that means. The average person may know there is a difference but not really understand what that is and will treat it the same as organic. Ive witnessed this first hand on many occassions.
I would like to mention one meta description from a seo in uk - which stands out and has a good CTR -IMO http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=seo&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-asee the www.ihaveawebsite-now what.co.ukMeta description - Would you trust a SEO company that PAYS for their own search engine listings?I have clicked a few times on that site rather than the ones above it - just plain curiosity!
