I've got to say that I couldn't agree with you more. Rand is a fine writer. Maybe he (and all of us) could use a fine editor.
Agreed, Rand is a good writer but some quality control wouldn't go a miss every now and then
My strong desire is to leave a string of curses in this thread, and on that blog.... Unbelievable.
Well strong curses is the mature option for sure, how about you just take some criticism or post an explanation?
Seomoz doesn't owe you anything. If you paid for a membership and the articles etc are full of off-topic stuff then that's something else... but I take it you are not paying them a penny.
And don't hide behind 'constructive criticism'... the post ends by saying they have obviously got a bunch of money floating around... sounds like jealousy of their success and the fact that every now and again they have fun and post off-topic posts... that you don't have to read.

An explanation for why I blog about occasionally off-topic subject matter? Or why I let my fiancee blog on the site? Really - I need to explain myself about that?
This seems like an almost ludicrous degree of expectation, no?
I can see im going to get the seomoz army hitting down on me hard on this one :) Im entitled to my personal opinions as are all of you about any subject matter, you don't have to agree but it's good to discuss - nice post on bruceclay btw ;)
Matt - you're right. I got overly upset because this post criticized Mystery Guest's work, which I'm crazy defensive over. I'll definitely take it under advisement that you and others are hoping to get more signal to noise ratio at SEOmoz. Just be aware that it's criticism I may not embrace - I really like being able to go off-topic sometimes and have a bit of fun. I guess I shouldn't take it personally if you find it boring.
Hmmm. I find half of the stuff posted to Sphinn to be of no interest to me.
Why should Matt's or Rand's or anyone elses' sites be any different?
