Oooh Naughty Naughty.
You know what happens when this stuff gets exposure like this dont you? Someone is going to be seeing pink me think. ;)
Think youre right PageOne...be interesting to know if its a journo, a CMS admin or someone higher up who gets it.
Thanks for sharing guys - very interesting indeed! :)
Very interesting read-not sure the powers that be (at the organisations involved) will be aware of the activity, or even what is being done?
Someones going to lose their job over this I imagine, and rightly so.
Can someone explain why this isnt a legitimate revenue stream for the newspaper and someone is going to be sacked over it, I dont understand what it is about the links thats dodgy
"Can someone explain why this isnt a legitimate revenue stream for the newspaper and someone is going to be sacked over it"Apparently they do see it as a legitamate revenue stream according to the March 24th update; the links are added by the paper itself and not the journalist. If the journalist was accepting cash on the side, that would be sure reason for sacking. It still raises questions about the integrity of the paper itself for not disclosing advertorial content, however!
This practice may or may not go on, but Dave has the wrong examples - its pure speculation on the pages he put up as examples with zero evidence to back them up.He went out and found some newspaper links are affilaite links - hardly breaking news and why the hell not? Affiliate links are not put up by journalist backhanders, since they need the tracking set up etc. so its an obvious revenue stream for the paper itself.
Newspapers as affialates, thats new!
