Ouch! Get enough of these circulating around the Internet and the pressure gets applied to Google tenfold through various media outlets. They’ll end up speaking on this one I’m sure. Those fradulent Government ads are a major black eye for them. But, that is just touching the surface. Not a whole lot we can do either other than write about it and hope the right outlets pick it up. I’ve watched the constant injustices being served by Google and other SEs. Hey, its part of the program. I learned long ago that G have the upper hand and there isn’t a damn thing you can do but write about and risk getting spanked. Ya, G will spank you if they don’t like what you are saying. I’ve see it done. And if it wasn’t their doing, then someone else has control over the SERPs besides them. ;) Man, that’s two players this week writing meaty stuff about Google and their selective practices. Who’s next?
As Aaron mentioned in the comments - if Google spanked that page it would only make Google look super evil. While I’m definately not anti G, this sort of hypocripsy from them really grinds my gears. With you on this @pageoneresults - I hope the right media outlits pick this one up, forcing these scams Google profit from into the spotlight.
Google, sigh....does no evil. But that is American style capitalism my friends. Trillion dollar bailouts for the wealthy while the poor get extended unemployment benefits that they use to pay off credit cards with 40% interest rates. How about those wonderful drug companies, agribusiness and oil conglomerates all working tirelesslessly to deliver toxic crap to our fat drug addled bodies. This depression that we are in now was created by Google style ethics. The sad thing is, that we are all sheep and Google and their well connected friends are the wolves. This is likely how the world has always been and always will be. Does not bode well for the future of this planet. Keep shouting, it may do some good. But the best thing you can do is lead by example, don’t be a greedy ugly pig yourself. Treat those less fortunate than yourselves with some respect. And remember that for every injustice we see at Google, others may see in us. Don’t do no evil.... be good... care about people and be fair. Something may change.
So if I get this right Joe Schmoe is as likely as say Seth Godin to get a large number of links and content written about their content agregation site?Good way to inflame the masses and generate some clicks.
They are not as likely to build as many links to their site, but if it *does* manage to rank well then it is much more likely to get whacked...that was the point Danny was making.
