Excellent post, Danny. I had in mind to write a blog post about King Canute Murdoch but this says it all. The old pre-Internet world no longer exists. The newspapers have got to deal with the online reality. Those who do not wish to live in the real world should go and do their thing in folk museums. It would be a shame for them to disappear without trace.
Google hates the papers. They steal stories and pay zip. Also, GOOG calls the papers and tells them to nofollow ads. I mean I pay big bux for an ad. Google pays nothing. However, Google orders, yes orders newspapers to make all ads nofollow.Well, one paper went one better they do not provide a link or make my URL clickable, but users have to cut and paste my URL, because papers are terrified of the russian mafia.
This reminds me of how google claims that Youtube helps Hollywood by giving movies exposure. YEAH RIGHT!
