With the recent introduction of the 10-pack for non-geo-targeted searches last week, it’s going to be that much more important to know *exactly* where your clicks are coming from on an organic search results page. In a guest post on Mike Blumenthals’ blog, Martijn Beijk lays out a brilliant strategy to do just that.

This is handy... though it’s too bad it is so complicated. I tried just tagging the url a few months back and it didn’t work at all. Going into my analytics account and checking the results was a lot like Yukon Cornelius of Rudolph fame, licking the end of his ice pick — nothin’

Great stuff - I’ve been at this once and lost some analytics data because I didn’t set up a 2nd profile for the website being tracked, but I’ll be at it again now.

@LocalHound there were problems with tagging in the past, sometimes the URL just was trimmed down, no results, nada. in my opinion the one that works best is the tracking with the 301 redirect, you can both monitor the amount of redirects hit ánd the data from Google Analytics (in the campaign section). @dailymoolah always, ALWAYS copy your profile :)
