Brian Gilley: "My team and I have built up a list of over 300 of these queries that come in very handy in our quest for links. Below Ill share just a few of these searches that are very specific to link building from popular CMS/blogging platforms and that provide good to moderately good results. Maybe these few will help you find even more crafty variations of your own..."

I have some questions before I Sphinn this. Have you ever received the 403 Forbidden message for performing too many advanced queries in a given time period? Also, are you familiar with Google Dorks? No, Im not referring to some of the people who may use Google, but the advanced queries that are referred to as Google Dorks?
Hey PageOne,I have not personally received a 403 - and Ben Wills, my business partner in Ontolo, doesnt anymore ;)I am researching/aggregating for an article on linkbuilding search operators and Brian Gilley wrote this article in response to my request for input...We would not conduct the types of searches associated with Google Dorks... I assume youre referring to the more exploitative types of searches?G
Those 403 Forbidden temporary bans are a pain in the arse. If you perform the queries too rapidly, you will invoke the Google Search FAIL Whale! Yall spend way too much time looking for links. ;) Yes on the Google Dorks. These days, most of those are apt to get you one or two 403 Forbidden sessions. I dont play with those much anymore, too risky.
lol :) thats what Ben tells me... luckily Im the content link builder, hes the developer/CEO ;Dstealth pitch:BTW we (Ben and I at Ontolo) spend ALL our time looking for links - the market "encouraged" us to specialize as a link research company, rather than as link builders. We got really good at finding, organizing and ranking link opportunities and so far thats been highly attractive to link building firms.btw I really really dug this thread you added to at WMW GREAT BRAIN FOOD:http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3893713.htm
Thanks again for the Sphinn Garrett. Im always reluctant to give away sites or networks weve used for building links, but there are so many of these out there that I dont see giving a handful or two away a bad thing.Bottom line, if you arent spamming a website via advanced query search but are instead contributing something of value, then getting a link there along with your post/contribution should not be frowned upon.I practise what I preach. SocialSEO.com is Drupal-based, just as one of the examples I gave within that article. Even though we have included a nofollow within comment signiture links, links are allowed out within the actual comment paragraphs. If the contributing is related and worthy and we do not feel it is spam, it gets approved.@pageoneresults -- Weve queried hundreds of these per day and Ive only run into the temporary ban a handful of times. Id say 1 of every 200 times gets a temporary ban. Then, we just move to proxies ;-)
