That is out of control Marty.

I've got another one like this I'll have to post in the near future.

Google isn't the company you should be questioning, it's Best Western. If they won't let their individual properties bid on their property names, that's a corporate call. Google can't make the decision to honor trademarks for one industry over another.

I worked with an online hotel marketing company for two years. We ran into this situation on a number of occasions, plus the situation of the brand not allowing independent property sites. I would bring it up with the brand or go with another flag.

I agree Rhea. There's no issue with Holiday Inn. When you request an exclusion it is granted.

FUNNY THING: Best Western is now advertising the Altus property on Google! Search for "Best Western Altus."

The power of the pen :)
I also commented over at AimClear blog - but we run into issues w/ Holiday Inn in ad text also - Not always from Google but corporate will call our client and harrass them to take the ads down - then we get the call.  Luckily the client likes it when we get away with it for a little bit so they're good natured about that phone call.

Carrie, I am hopeful that the representitive Hotel Chain SEM firm(s) and in-house marketing staff join us in this dialog.
