Nice! Best line is "The answer is, simply, the ability to get things done."Theres a difference between knowing a lot of information, and getting things done with that knowledge.
Could have just titled it "Ten Ways To Be Great".
"Theres a difference between knowing a lot of information, and getting things done with that knowledge."Said it before and will say it again :) "Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is not putting it in your fruit salad."Yeah, I know, some folk will. But I think we all agree on the idea.
Information is everywhere. What will give you an edge is to keep what you know organized in a way that makes them easily actionable. A trick to getting things done is minimizing moments of indecision. Research and planning eats away time without you ever moving forward. You can spend 1 month reading SEO posts and never get a single thing done. Unless your biz depends on marketing to other SEO bloggers you dont need to read seo posts as soon as theyre published. Youll save time by searching for information you need when you need it instead of having random ideas push marketed to you through RSS feeds. For example, theres no point reading Sphinns front page. 90% of what you see there are irrelevant to whatever problem youre trying to solve any time of day.Worse, information on blogs are distributed in bits and pieces. Youll need to repeatedly re-digest new information packaged with old information. Some blog posts can be summarized with a single sentence. Putting everything together into a project template or a checklist helps weed out all that randomness and redundancy.Create a custom Google search engine that includes all your favorite seo forums and blogs. Then when you want to work on a particular problem (e.g. optimizing for image search) run a search through your custom SE. You can also rinse feeds through filters like Yahoo! pipes so you only read posts about topics youre researching from trusted sources instead of scanning through every single thing those sites publish. To be an effective SEO, minimizing time spent on research and planning is key. And most likely you already know everything you need to know to be successful. All you need is to organize that knowledge in a way that limits time wasted on thinking.
This are solid... Although most really apply to any client management situation from any industry... But still - Thats great. People need this type of direction.
Great tips. My favorite was -- 9. Be a realist: Focus on sustainability -- You have to "think" like a search engine in order to be successful.
hey thanx for great tips
