Eric Lander has put together a nice video of Google serving irrelevant advertising in AdWords which may be putting advertisers at risk by costing them money and decreasing their quality score.

really interesting video. fantastic find... this can negatively effect advertisers... reduction in click through rate, lower ad position, higher cost per click. just doesn’t seem like a very efficient way to deploy behavioral targeting - especially on adwords.

Adwords has been ridiculous the past few months.  I think Google and other PPC providers are forgetting the reason PPC became the dominant form of advertising on the web: because it was targeted.  Your ad showed when users did a search for your keywords.  Now so many irrelevant ads are showing that any claim of targetting is laughable.I know the Googlers are under pressure to keep a high growth rate (that stock P/E ratio!), but they risk alienating their customers if they keep this up.
