This is a very astute synopsis of another "amazing!" blog widget that claims to potentially flood ones blog with traffic. These widgets are not all managed alike and, as is more commonplace than people might realize, they encounter their fair share of problems.

A lot of bloggers are complaining abouth BlogRush... I created a BlogRush Mashup to track what everyone was thinking about it in real time... it isnt pretty. Most bloggers dont realize BlogRush is going to sell 4 out of every 5 headline spots to the highest bidder -- cash for the owner of BlogRush (John Reese), not the blogger.
Yes, and we should get use to this sort of thing when a TECH solution is attempted by a non-tech guy. In my experience, marketers are EGO-driven as opposed to techies who are, almost always, PROCESS-driven. So something like BLOGRUSH gives a marketer another "notch" in his belt to brag about on the NEXT venture. It has nothing to do with satisfied customers and everything to do with a finely-tuned, well-managed list. If that were obvious from the get-go, I think less people would "rush" to put the latest-greatest apps on their blogs and do a little more research first.
Heh. Thanks for the sphinn. :)
