An important reality check from Lisa @ Outspoken Media. Guess what? If your product or service is awesome, the world will promote it for you - for free. If your product or service sucks, you’ll spend an inordinate amount of money and effort promoting it...and people still won’t buy it. Correction: some people will buy it, but they’ll never buy it AGAIN and they won’t recommend it to anyone they know.

To some degree this is true; a great product can gets lots of free advertising.  But even a great product will not be promoted by people who have never heard of it.  And the majority of good products are not "great".  Build a better moustrap and the world will never know without advertising.

But it’s too haaaaarrrrrrrddddddd! Nobody wants to spend the time to create something great. They’d rather waste all their time and money seeking out the magic formula to success that doesn’t involve the hard work.

From a marketing point of view the most powerful communication a company can use is the referral of satisfied users/clients to their friends and or family. This is why if you have a good viral marketing campaign going there’s no real need for any other type of commercial outings.
