Andrew Goodman follows up with part two of his response to Guy Kawasaki’s keynote address at Search Engine Strategies New York about using "Twitter As A Tool For Social Media." Kawasaki’s address resulted in a firestorm within the social media community, and here Goodman makes an apt comparison between Kawasaki and other showmen like Jim Cramer of CNBC’s "Mad Money."Goodman believes Kawasaki may actually be doing Twitter a service thanks to his form of "ethical hacking."

I believe the line that stood out to me most in this post was:  "Why was an otherwise smart person bamboozled into shilling for the King of Shill?"  Why, indeed?  This isn’t just about the Internet’s version of the infomercial featuring Billy Mays trying to schlep some Mighty Mendit...this is about the hundreds, probably thousands, of people like "the friend" featured in this post that mindlessly and willingly auto DMing & retweeting everything they can get their hands on simply because "Guy says so...who am I to disagree...".  You’ve got a brain.  Use it.  Think for yourself.  Know when you’re being used.  It seems as though some have managed to con everyone into believing that simply by doing what their told to do - which is typically NOT what whomever is telling you to do it is doing, mind you - that they can achieve a comparable level of success.  Create your own definition of success.  There is only one Guy Kawasaki.  And I’m eternally grateful for that.  Imagine what Twitter would be like with a seemingly endless number of Guys making up the community.  I shudder to think...

I need to proofread my comments more carefully.  I just noticed I used "their" rather than "they’re"...one my of OWN pet peeves!  Ugh...

Goodman is defending Jim Cramer because Cramer is really a sensitive soul on the inside?  I’m sure there are thousands of worse people on Wall St. than Jim Cramer, but they don’t have national TV shows that allow them to cheerlead for overpriced stocks and contradict themselves one month to the next.  That’s what Jon Stewart’s beef with Cramer was."Unfollow, unsubscribe, opt out. Change the frickin’ channel"  Goodman says about TV people you don’t like.  Yes, that’s what I think we should do with Kawasaki.  Let’s just ignore him.

Crimsongirl: I have no problem ignoring Guy. I changed the channel ages of ago. What’s not okay, however, is when he steps in a public arena as a keynote speak and then offers up his BS as real methodology that people should follow. That’s when people stop ignoring him and grab the pitchforks instead. Don’t walk into my house and tell people who to abuse it. You want do to that on your own time? Fine. Don’t spread the disease.

The problem is that sheeple - I mean people - actually take what Guy says as Twitter gospel and do it.  It is easy to ignore Guy, but if enough people blindly follow his ludicrious advice the value of Twitter as we know it ceases to exist.  If it’s ONE Guy Kawasaki, no big deal.  If it’s 1,000...10,000...100,000 Guy Kawasaki’s - HOLY HELL ALMIGHTY!  Just ignoring him isn’t going to keep his SPAM-O-RIFIC message from negatively impacting the entire Twittersphere.  And let’s face it, a large number of those who listen to his advice are spammers looking to turn a quick buck by emulating whatever it is he does because they can’t be bothered to figure out what to do on their own.

I had trouble reading the blog post past the second paragraph. What exactly did Guy advocate that all of you dislike so much? I guess I will have to go listen to the interview.
