How will you build links if no one sees your content? Seems obvious doesn’t it. And yet how many people claim that Stumble traffic or digg traffic is useless? As I have said before, there is no useless traffic, just useless content.

From another perspective take a look at Lyndons post and ask yourself... "How Are You Going To Get _____ If They Don’t Know You _____?"

Lyndon effectively let's his readers know he writes content for clients by telling them... "I write content for clients."

Well done.

This is very much in line with the philosophy of building channels of distribution. Great content is pretty lonely and linkless unless you go out and promote it. Do so in a systematic way using multiple channels and you'll need little if any need for outbound link acquisition efforts.

This is one of the things I struggled with at my current position. I set out to develop content that is link worthy but until the content can be found you can't generate the links. It is especially difficult in industries that really don't understand how links work. Besides conducting some traditional link building campaigns I sought out some of the industry leader blogs and networks and contributed without self promoting. This lead other so my site to find our content and lead to some links. I also joined niche social networking sites and sprinkled in some advice about SEO and how important links are thus educating the members in these communities. Now I still believe most in the real estate industry are a bit naive about linking I was able to reach a few people who were able to reach a few more. As more industry leaders realize how links work they are more willing to give them to their readers.
While some industries understand links many don't so it is important to develop the content that is link worthy, educate, and participate.
