Rebecca's p*ssed.
Too many rude people are asking her for social media votes.
Leave Rebecca alone...otherwise, she will do a Mount St. Helens over the entire Sphinn community:.)
It's hard to believe that people would be as rude to her as she's described in her blog post.

Hey Rebecca ... can you sphinn this one? Oh yeah, and comment too! :)
Haha, oh geez...
I would hate being bombarded like she is. Doesn't speak well for the SEO community if this is how some are conducting "business." Real friends don't beg and if they do, they save it for something worthwhile :)
I liked this post as I didn't know there was such a thing as "social days" in the SEO/SEM world.
I'm glad some SEOs go through hoops to make sure I don't miss an "important" article, lol. /sarcasm. Just submit whatever and let it go.
Were's the YouTube video with a sheman under a quilt telling me not to do it.
*** Where's the YouTube video with a sheman under a quilt telling me not to do it. ***
LOL. Did you mean sheman? or did you mean shamen?
Whatever, the mind boggles.
G1SMD I thought every single person on the planet had seen the Chris Croker video:

The artie lange one is way better ;)
g1smd - you crack me up!
Do people really do this? I can't imagine having the cahones to actually email people for sphinns/votes, no matter if they're industry rock stars or not. Send an interesting article or blog post maybe, but to beg for votes is pathetic.
I agree that it's very annoying to be bugged whilst working, but I do feel that Rebecca acted less than professionally in her response, I'm afraid. I just wouldn't launch a tirade like that against a fellow SEO. There's far more polite responses available - suggest the SEO emails the links to you, explain politely that you're far too busy to be bugged, or, if all else fails, use the 'block' button. I actually quite like Rebecca and I deeply admire the way she lives and breathes SEO, but there really is no excuse for launching into an expletive-filled tirade against another SEO, especially when you're in the position of respect that Rebecca is. Sorry Rebecca - just my $0.02 :)
She's a human, not a bot. Politeness obviously didn't work. Some people won't listen until you yell.

She is highlighting unacceptable behavior from another type of spammer.
In that respect, posting was the right thing to do.
I understand her posting her article on SEOmoz, but does it really need to be sphunn?
Did it get dugg as well, and stumbled too?
Rebecca, I know getting spammed sucks. I've always told my clients, the more spam you get, the better you are doing. I'd say the same goes for you, and Tamar for that matter. ;)
"but does it really need to be sphunn?"
Considering the amount of debating that's been going on amongst the top Sphinners about "networking" to get a story to the front page, her article actually adds to the conversation.
I simply can not believe the buzz surrounding this topic.
I'm just jipped cos I am not even on Becs IM list.
Marty, there is buzz around this because it's a pain in the arse to be pinged for votes all day long and then expected to vote on crapola.
Does anyone here seriously think I am going to give my vote simply because someone else asks, if the content is crap you don't get my vote.
It's simple really, quality content gets the vote, crap content does not.
Bec voted on the good stuff, where's the issue?
drama!!
