I was just "driving while black" when I read this.
The double standard that Google often holds reminds me of when I was younger. My parents would always tell me not to do things, and yet they would do them themselves "do as I say child not as I do". Lisa is right when she says that is just wrong.
I think the situation is a catch 22 for Google.Heres why, if Google hold everyone to the same standard, then every SEO agency and expert can basically run wild. If they hold everyone to the standard they are holding Michael Gray to, then the entire index is screwed. Google is holding us to higher standard because they cannot punish the other 98% of websites that we do not affect (real number btw). They can however say we know how SEO people run (we sculpt, we H tag, we use robots.txt etc.. were not that hard to find) and say to those that are applying SEO standards you need to work like this. Thats what Google means by intent. Everything we do, has intent behind it. So we need to be help accountable. In Canada all laws are governed not by the rule of law but by goodwill. Its the same thing here.
This going to drive SEOs expert crazy. What the big G expect? Nowadays they keep on changing the rules... no choice, they are the judge of the game.
What is the problem with doing SEO work? Google are being pathetic changing the rules constantly, what do they expect us to do?
