I agree, this is a problem. Another solution is to make your blogs do follow and ask people who make comments to have their blogs be do follow as well.
@cosmiccarl IMHO I do not believe that prevents the dilution of pagerank among more and more comment-created outlinks.
Based on Matt Cutts latest post on page rank sculptinghttp://www.mattcutts.com/blog/pagerank-sculpting/it would seem that the recommended approach here may well be very appropriate.
Not sure what the deal is with this article. Who says you have to let users link out to their web addresses in comments anyways? Why can people just moderate them and filter out the garbage?
Google assigns more PR to blogs with lots of comments. And it makes sense, if a blog has many comments typically that it a good thing. There are people who go on MTURK and pay you a penny per comment.
@seobro ORLY???
As I commented on the post:You appear to use WordPress 2.8. It supports paged comments. Why not get your theme updated to use this feature, then only allow 10 comments per page (using one of the SEO plugins that adds the canonical tag to avoid duplicate content issues)? Wouldnt that solve the problem?
Youre right, Stephen. That certainly should solve the problem if you dont mind separate pages, although Im not a fan of that approach.Re the canonical tag, I use the All-in-one-SEO Pack Plugin and that tag is now included in the plugin. If it works, then that certainly helps.
am new to this pagerank dilution.. this is informative.. thanks a lot!
