Mikkel deMib Svendsen writes a very intriguing post about the way US should look at Europe. An absolute must read.

When I speak at conferences in the US local business owners often ask me how they can market themselves best in Europe. Europe? I ask. There is no Europe and there are no Europeans!

There is a politically united Europe. There is a geographical Europe. There is a dream among some that we will one day get a United States of Europe. But from a marketing point of view the fact remains that there is no Europe and there are no Europeans!

Saying "Europe" is like saying "America" and meaning the US, Cuba and Brasil among others.

Could I get away with "Middle East", though? Maybe I don’t know enough about them, but I always thought apart from Israel and Iran, most of the mideast spoke Arabic and have fairly similar cultural traditions.

Western Europe is worth considering because of higher purchase power.(From Germany to Ireland, + Scandinavia + Italie + Spain maybe)
