Has Michael Jackson died or is this another social media and Internet hoax? Social Media is reporting his death. CNN is reporting he’s in a coma. And the search engines don’t have a clue what’s going on.

I really didn’t expect this to hit Sphinn, but the BING FAIL on the tragedy of Michael’s death is fairly relevant to SEO ... especially News Search SEO, as it took Microsoft’s BING over TWO HOURS to serve updated news stories on the death of MJ ABOVE THE FOLD ... beforehand, they were still serving sites that sell MJ concert tickets, while the rest of the world was covering the sad sad news. A big FAIL for Bing, a bigger loss for all of us who grew up listening to Thriller.

Just a layout issue? Maybe they could just rearrange the "news" section to be a priority for general searches?I thought the Google snapshot was worse since the headline actually had little more than a subtle hint that something might have been wrong (if you’re the observant kind who recognizes an obit), but that’s just me.

I thought the Bing result showing Michael Jackson concert tickets as the very first thing was the ultimate FAIL. But hey that’s just me.

MSM or main stream media did fail. It was hours till they could confirm. By that time, we all new the truth. I guess now we will depend on twitter for news.
