If a power blogger links to my new  web site, Google can find it within minutes, but without links I had it take over six months. You need links from authority sites for Google to find you. They rarely crawl low PR sites, but I know for a fact that high PR sites are crawled several time a day. That said, Google frowns on people paying bloggers for links. Yet they complain that it is hard for them to find new sites if they have no links. Chicken and the egg folks.

No links = no traffic = no people finding you = no links.
