5 points for an A-B-C post that actually managed to use Q and X (and X wasn't "xylophone").
5 points? does that mean you Sphunn it 5 times for me? ;-) j/k
Some great points on there (hence the Sphinn!), but I think it's worth noting that social media isn't about bombarding everyone via every channel possible.
An intro or concluding sentence would state that it's important to pick the channels or media that best suit your goal. E.g. following everyone, building large networks is usually a waste of time. It'd be much better to grow a well-targeted network with people actually engaging with whatever it is you have to offer, be it product, brand or yourself.
Hey Joanna,
I couldn't agree more. How many SEO "Experts" are there on Twitter with 50,000 followers. A targeted audiance is so much better and allows for you to be more authentic.
Thank you for all the great comments. I'm new here and I'm not sure how I didn't know about this place. I have a strong feeling I won't be getting much else done today - there's a lot of great stuff to read.
I agree with what everyone said ... it's true, Joanna and Miguel - I'm always telling people that the name of the game isn't about building up numbers. It's funny in a way because for the longest time I thought it would be the holy grail to get on Twitter's preferred list and watch my followers grow exponentially in a matter of hours, but actually that's not the case at all. In fact, I've watched someone's Twitter feed pretty much turn into something I wouldn't want mine to turn into because it's all random people that are just signing up for the sake of signing up.
Although people follow me from all over the world, as the voice of RedEye in Chicago, we have a large, targeted Chicago-centric audience that I turn to for so many things - when we do special online projects (which we do often) and projects in the paper, we're usually looking for local folks to participate. Thanks to social media, I have these people to turn to.
And I'll close by telling Pete that when I started this list, I started with Q and X and Z first. I said that if I couldn't come up with 26 actually useful things that I wouldn't complete the list.
I look forward to getting to know you all going forward - and thanks again for the constructive comments.
Thanks. I was pleasantly surprised by this article. Very well done for an ABC.
Thanks for the response Scott! Yes, it's always hard to stick with a certain post structure once you decide on it. The intro/outro would have been an ideal addition though, meaning you'd keep the nice A, B, C approach!
Looking forward to more posts from you!
