Weird they missed Stumbleupon which began Jun 21, 2002 - http://1.stumbleupon.com/
Academic rigour + social media = Win. I love reading stuff like that... thanks Lyndon!
I cant believe its 2 days and this hasnt gone to the front page. Maybe Sphinners dont like to read.
Thanks for putting this on Sphinn. Im not sure if I would have found it given that the day is always full of things to read (in addition to trying to get work done from time to time :) ). Youre right, why cant all social media articles use this type of analysis? Not that all articles need to be this long or rigorous. As long as the author puts some thought into giving readers something of value, and not just a short blog post pointing readers to other peoples thoughts...
Very interesting read. One of the contributors, Danah Boyd, stirred up quite a bit of controversy regarding a blog post she made discussing teen demographic differences between myspace and facebook.
Yeah, it went hot. Thanks chaps, my faith is preserved.
Im sure its an interesting read, but its definitely way, way too long for the 15 minute break crowd like myself.
"I cant believe its 2 days and this hasnt gone to the front page."Welcome to my world!
Luckily it went hot eventually - I wouldve missed it otherwise. Nice find Lyndon. I get the feeling that therell be a BBC Four / Open University style documentary based on this report before too long.@katfrench: Thanks for the link to the demographics article - also a good read.
I larned a fyou things about social networking sites (SNSs). Thanks to iool
Once again glad I was running down some old hot topics. Great Study.
