"The average LinkedIn user is 39 and makes $139,000 a year."Thats madness.
Where is that data pulled from about salary and age?I am much younger and make loads more $$. ;)I enjoy the networking capability of LinkedIn, but unless I am job hunting I see it as nothing more than an online resume. Outside of asking a question, there isnt much peer interaction compared with other social communities. (that I am aware of)
Ive loved LinkedIn since it started. Excellent place for business networing, though it was a bit slow to start. Still, I suppose thats how most sites trend.
LinkedIn can get your name ranked in the top ten in less than a couple of weeks if you arent Joe Smith. Plus just about anyone you can imagine ever having worked with will stumble onto your profile. Dont know how they got $139K as the average salary on there... seems pretty high to me. Most the people I know on there arent making $39K...
I dont think that you can estimate the average salary per LinkedIn user. There is no such information in LI database provided by users and to think that you can use a mathematical model to calculate salary based on salary/position/company/industry/country/... its to much
I pulled LinkedIns average salary figure from a Kathy Luo, LinkedIn spokeswoman, direct quote found in the September 4th edition of the Washington Post. Id say it coming from the horses mouth! :-)
I wonder how many of the millions of users of LinkedIn actually employ the referral marketing features within it. It has worked wonders for me - an undiscoverd jewel for sure.
