I’d have to agree that the long term success is based on quality content and not links.  While avoiding links doesn’t help your short term progress in gaining notice, it won’t actively hinder it the way that indiscriminantly adding links will. I’m paid to produce quality results, not by maximizing links.  Rankings and view statistics only come in to play as a metric to show that I’ve been successful reaching my audience.

Probably (hopefully!) not things established link builders would do, but certainly a lot of SME’s get trapped by these mistakes.

The point about relying too much on social media is good advice.  In our link building campaigns, we’ve been making that mistake.  Social bookmarking sites, although still valuable in other ways, place the dreaded nofollow on their pages, so it’s unfortunately not the most viable method of link building.

"Then why the hell would you outsource your links building to people who can are barely speak or type English?"  (Emphasis added)  I just had to comment on this one.  I agree with what Eric is trying to say in English here.  Perhaps it’s not as easy to type English, however, as we’d all like to think.  We aren’t havin’ fun if we can’t poke some fun!

Follow up from previous comment:  Nice, quick editorial cleanup!  Props to whoever caught this first, as I was referring to the email version and noticed the website version’s corrected.

I’m erasing the spot I had reserved for Jim Boykins’s RSS feed to replace it with yours.
