This is elementry at best. Naturally, having different comments or comment flair will get you more attention. I do disagree that people actually routinely investigate commenters, and getting arbitrary traffic isn't really that amazing.

@Jessedictor

If you are commenting a lot on other blogs and not getting some traffic, attention, and subscribers, as well as making some friends, then you're probably doing it wrong. In my exprience people (blog owners) and some readers do routinely investigate the people that comment on their blogs. For example: I took a moment to check out your adsense blog spot blog just now. ;-)

I used to focus on syndicating my blog posts to get traffic. Lately, It's all about the comments. Works well at establishing connections in similar niches

Thanks for sharing, AbsolutelyTrue.

Here are some extra suggestions to get your blog noticed via commenting:

  • Commenting on the responses of those people that commented. If your response is interesting enough it will get you noticed.
  • Also, if the comment platform allows it, leaving an unusual comment, e.g. add a funny picture, create a video response, etc.
  • Always create an account when using social commenting services like Disqus’.
