For those of you that don’t follow web activity data, email has always been one of, if not THE, primary activity of web surfers. A trend has emerged in the UK that shows the Top Social Networks outpaced the usage of email recently.
Mashable - So what does this mean? It emphasizes the shift in online behavior as it moves from email clients to social networks. Ten years ago, your online activity revolved around your email. It still does now, to a certain extent, but the manner in which go access your email and receive messages from others is evolving.

I definitely find it easier to network using social media networks as opposed to using email. It is very easy to find people using social networks. Most people use the same avatar and nickname from one site to the next. This makes it very easy to follow your friends.
Yes, Im sure theyll replace email as soon as you dont need an email account to sign-up for them. Oops! Methinks email is chugging along just fine.
