It's even funnier when sales representatives from yellow page companies make these claims. Totally clueless.

planetc1, you're not kidding with the yellow pages companies. My uncle was solicited by one of their sales guys who told him that SEO in not necessary anymore. He said that Google wants to spread their traffic around so that every site ends up ranking well from time to time. Even if you optimize your site you get the same time on the front page as an unoptimized site.

I've had conversations with Yellow Pages salesman that would blow your mind. They had NO idea what they were talking about and threw terms/promises around that were crazy.

I recently had a conversation with one of those Yellow Pages type places.  They were showing me Google trends of their company vs. some other Yellow Pages.  Still, he didn't know what PageRank was, lol.
