Although, I have to wonder sometimes if you have someone like Eric Ward whose comment is fairly mysterious--in hopes of keeping his secrets close to the vest--only to have one of the other contributors simply blurt it all out.

Nobody will tell you your success secret, you have to make your own.

For link building, apply all white hat methods, try to get as many as one way theme relates links for your site. Though, it is harder, but achievable. I think rate of acquiring one way links quickly differentiate between good and band link builder.
