I ahve a persona, but it is me. I do not pretend to be somebody to get sales or eye balls.Just be yourself, some people will like you, other will hate you, but at least you and your brand will be noticed...Igor The Troll
This isnt the type of persona the article is referring to.
So I have no character..:) I am in a vacuum?
oh really... explain it to me. Im all ears. Even when the googly geeky white knight know-nothing marketers of several years ago were spouting about "commenting properly on blogs" and "pagerank" and telling me that no one would want to buy from somoene with an alias persona, I told them to politely go fuck themselves. So why is this news when experienced people have been doing it all along?
Ive seen first hand that personas work wonders. This is not only true on landing pages, but on ad copy (PPC) and email drip campaigns. Now, why someone had to go and tell everyone about this little competitive nugget is beyond me. :-)
StubHub had done extensive research into the use of personas, and now they rely on them heavily. I saw a great presentation at MidMarket eTail 07 by Anita John from StubHub. Another company that I heard had great success with personas was Fredericks of Hollywood. They created personas based on Sex in the City characters.
