This trend is definitely upon us. Agree with Jordan interactive infographics are resource heavy but the ROI is immense when done right.

We are actually in the hiring stage for after effects/flash geniuses right now for this purpose - making our inhouse infographics interactive.

One of my favourite animated infographics at the moment is by GrassHopper (great marketing team there)  [Mod edit: link destination 404's] - "Entrepreneurs can change the world".
