Too many lightweight posts lately on Sphinn, so time to get serious for a moment... :.)
Im going to Vegas for the first time as an adult and I dont pretend to know my way around. And while many folks might might be interested in the best bars / clubs, I know I gotta hit at least one of the legendary Vegas buffets that Ive heard about for so long. So where should I go?

Ill join you Todd!
Wynn Hotel (where many from PubCon are staying)Rio (used to have great buffet)Count me in.
Im in too - cya there!
It will be the first time for us too - I have also heard the tales of these legendary buffets ;) Why dont we organise a Sphinn get together at one of these places? Unless there is already something in the works? BTW - I think Twitter would be pretty useful for finding people and organising locally (feel free to add me - nickwilsdon). Although Im weighing that up against the potential for late-night drunken twitters from the blackberry...ho hum
Ill be glad to hit the buffet with all the folks above...and any fellow Sphinnsters who wish to join us.
We really need more discussion on meetups during Pubcon...I dont wanna miss out on all the fun!
Bellagio has the best Buffet in VEGAS!!!!!Michael --> have not eaten the Wynn buffet, but it would have to be magical to top the Bellagio
@Nick: added you to my Twitter (user: chiropractic)@everyone: we have to eat more than 1x so should not be a problem.@SisterSledge: Agreed, good to make some plans in advance.Im in on Tuesday (4th) and staying through till Fri PM (you do not want to miss Fri afternnon if you can stay). Staying at Marriott next to conference center. Monorail is right there.Note: Almost every hot topic at pubcon is being covered by Sphinners (Tamar, Michael Gray, Jim Boykin, Rae Hoffman, Stoney deGeyter, Chris Winfield, Bill Hartzer, Rob Kerry, Lee Odden, and others). Those of us not speaking can collectively create some great posts about those that are.Gonna be a great time had!
Todd,Ive never been to Vegas - so count me in. My friend says the weekend brunch buffet at the bellagio rocks.
Ive been to Vegas a few times but I dont ever recall eating. (just kidding) I remember hitting a few BAD buffets but I dont recall anything exceptional, but Im game. You can twitter me at 775-287-1141... oh wait... thats called texting. Thats about as twitter as I get!
Ive been resisting the urge to twitter, isnt it just a distraction device? But I can see the good that it can bring in this situation -- especially since there are no official event threads to be found.
Bellagio.
@Tim - Yes that was my main hesitation too. However its working out well so far. Get it working through Skype or your IM client. Im quite work orientated (obsessed?) so Im sticking with the ones who mainly Twitter information related to that - Im less inclined to follow people who keep telling me what they had for breakfast. Sign up and add the following people to your list to start:http://twitter.com/SebastianXhttp://twitter.com/andybealhttp://twitter.com/senginelandhttp://twitter.com/rustybrickhttp://twitter.com/leeoddenhttp://twitter.com/dannysullivanhttp://twitter.com/graywolfhttp://twitter.com/AndyBeardhttp://twitter.com/johnandrewsThat should give you an idea - add or remove people then depending on the volume of messages you want. I think it can be very useful for organising in real time, well see how well it works at PubCon! @St0n3y - Yep, but Twitter gives you free text messaging ;) Plus youre effectively msging everyone on your list at the same time. No idea how they can afford it - they are even sending them to my mobile in Russia.http://help.twitter.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=80
@NickWilsdon - big thanks for the kickstart re: Twitter. Im going to call my cell carrier first... but I look forward to using it especially during the PubCon.
@TimDineen - glad to help. Twitter is ok as long as you are a bit selective on the people you put on your list. Somehow Jason Calanis manages to follow 4,182 people! His IM client must look a news ticker at the NYSE!
FYI - to all looking for PubCon events: http://sphinn.com/story/15640
Bellagio buffet is great for variety -- an incredible display of foodsof all kinds, especially for a massive feed like that. BUT, be on time, because they cant deliver all of that all of the time. So long lines, yes.Now Wynn buffet is excellent, but with less variety (while still enough). Lesser lines, higher prices, and less like a buffet (more like a restaurant than a cafeteria). I have heard several people over the years say Riviera buffet "was" great. My only experience is late night, and it was horrible. Worse than almost any New Jersey diner at 3am, and except for us, everyone knew that because it was just us and a collection of night workers catching a quick meal. Your mileage may vary ;-)Personally I dont do the buffets any more except with large groups. There are many good/fun restaurants in Vegas.... Emerils seafood bar, that German Haus place, Nobu hard rock, Sushi Roku at Caesers, etc. Easier to converse, and less incentive to overeat ;-)
