Users have migrated from trusting traditional media for reviews, ratings, and recommendations to trusting what their peers have to say in social media. The new age of digital and social media is upon us, and apparently, already dying in some areas. New data shows consumers are rebelling against all the “noise.”

I don't think the trust is broken yet because it is still a new tool but overtime it will get incredibly abused (unfortunately) and the trust factor will diminish. I'm sure at that point there will be a whole new way to communicate online that will take it's place.
