Wolfy, you’re my hero! Love it. "Don’t be a yes man. Don’t be afraid to buck the system now and again. Stand up and do something noteworthy and get noticed." [or fired, either or]

What a useful article. A lot of techniques I’ve been trying to incorporate into my marketing strategies.

"Why Won’t Anyone Vote for Me? So who did you tell about your great work? Did you contact some other SEO bloggers? Did you show it to your friends? In the real world people use publicists who pull out a rolodex and call up people they think would be interested in your project. In social media email and IM are your virtual rolodex and you need to work them just as hard." This is a great point. I’m sure many people see Sphinn and similar sites as the way to promote themselves and their ideas, but putting yourself out there when no one knows who you are, or without telling those who know you that you’re out there, isn’t going to alert crowds to you.

It’s a great article, Michael. Marketing and being successful are hard work. Yes, you could get lucky, and you could spend an awful lot of time standing around waiting to get lucky. On the other, you could work to make your own luck.

This was from a month ago, but I guess Michael recently gained even more attention so now his old rants are even more popular than ever. Michael almost always makes excellent points, I just wish he’d do it with a smaller chip on his shoulder.
