the problem with this post is that it is only looking at links from a ranking perspective.  Links obviously help rankings, but they also send valuable REFERRAL TRAFFIC.  Hence the reson you should never ignore a link opportunity because the site isn't indexed, uses no follow, or only gives you a URL link.

However, you do need to be smart and not spam your site on any website that will accept a link.
